Hooting is better than shooting

All of a sudden

theres an owl around here

a bird that likes  darkness

a legendary fear

it seldom surfaces

in daylight hours

An outlaw of sorts

with magical powers

Lives eating field mice

so farmers agree

they love resident owls

thats a certainty

the sharp claws and hooked beak

and big staring eyes

and that well ghostly call

can be quite a surprise

at night they will fly

often through wooded lanes

goggle like eyes

and pretty good brains.

In the vicinity of Woodland Close Tring.
