Ecuador

Ecuador land of my dreams

land of my birth

my paradise

I be a brown faced Spider Monkey

critically endangered now

critical hectares of forest

being destroyed  and this is how

the residents, the animals

the  indigenous peoples

And growers who

work the Cacao night and day

mosquitoes wise

it’s very true

its so much harder to make ends meet

to find the food  to then compete

with logging ruffians

night and day

who steal our precious foods away

its not just us

all of us here

the insect life emboldened fear

the other trees and animals too

we need the spirit of Nature

You

people of the western World

Don’t  chop the trees down

for we are hurled

into oblivion, into pain

our forest homes

destroyed  again

Aawz

the WASHU project

that cacao where

growing is hard

when people care

it’s possible but tragically

the corporates come

destructively

isolated communities

real native people

who really see

the jungle for its wondrous wealth

not the  evil souls of stealth

who steal our medicines

and then pollute

who take our food

and always root

up the crops  in which we depend

I am a spider monkey

and your friend.
