Badgers and Cows

Omnivores .
Mustelidae
Fossorial activity
A half a million years
They walked
The forest hereabouts
The earth worms potent enemy
Snails and slugs a tasty treat
They sleep in chambers
Lined with softness
Really the elite

Of wild souls in our countryside
Weasels ferrets Otters too
Family members
Good and true
Martins minks and wolverines
Not forgetting Polecats too
All set their scenes
Similarly
to the badger clan
Of these Master builders
I am a human fan

Being blamed for causing I’ll
This old chestnut, yes it’s still
The Badgers fault
When dairy boys
Create unnatural bovine noise
Filthy dirty upsetting ways
Nutritionally every phase
Of negligence and cruelty
On mother cows which tragically

Affect them so emotionally
Dairy criminality
Rape rack workings
Kidnaps too
Losing their babies
A solid clue

A shortened life
20 per cent
Of what god offered
Heaven sent
An awful life of
Stuck inside
Imprisoned daily
And denied

Freedom love and
Wildness, they
Suffer almost everyday
Weakened systems sickly souls
Quick to lame
Their death knell tolls
Too soon the slaughterhouse
Is where
They realise
And become aware

But nobody hears the Badgers Prayer
On,
Only a few can re write their prayer

We are the innocent
Bruins Brocks
We the embattled
Feel the knocks
We are being shot
We are being blamed
That’s what the Dairies
All have claimed
