A bunch of pigeons

Five pigeons on a council roof
On solar panels they
Danced around observing
The bright lights so to say
The afternoon was sunny
With a cold snap in the air
In front of a golden tree
It’s leaves it waved about to share

Autumn sun peered extraordinarily
Out of a pale blue sky
Mustard saffron various yellows
Vividly, no lie
A brown rat came a sniffing
With its long long tail
Looking for it’s lunch maybe
I think it was a male
Inquisitive and surly
It got onto the roof frightened off the pigeons
They were all aloof
To ratter, moving swiftly
Waiting here was I
My friend was at the surgery
That’s no word of a lie
