Marylebone 12th Century

Marylebone a village
Far from the city sprawl
A dreamy little sparkling stream
Bull rushes and all
Kingfishers emblazoned
Scents of wilder flowers
Beautifully thatched cottages
And roses bounteous powers

The countryside deep wooded
All manner of green
Close to a Regents Park
Where a Manor House had set a scene
Packs of Deers and Foxes
We’re hunted in the park
Hares and even Owls
Hooting after dark

The twelfth century vista
A Bourne across the moor
From Hampstead North West of London Town
Across Oxford Street
Explore St James Park
Too the Thames became its fall
Ty burn a small village
A church with a nice wall
