Fallen

It happened
A knock at the door
I better try and see
If I can take the parcels in
But I fell
Head first
Hands free

My head hit the runner
Blacked out for a bit
Blood was running in my eyes
I then tried to sit
But fell again upon my head
More blood everywhere
Down my arms I was frightened
And
very aware

Just there in the darkness
I call on Alexa she
Announced the fact I had fallen
But nobody came to me
Then I found my I pad
left a message to say
Can you help me I have fallen
And they came back right away

A lot of blood a nasty cut
On my head the pain
Bruising and contusions
I really felt the strain
Managing to get up
A cushion at my feet
C called out the ambulance
And my swollen feet
Didn’t
fit my shoes alas
And it was very cold
Thinners coupled with head wounds
Adversity had rolled
Around me
The great moon was low
Watford was to where
I was taken at midnight
That’s when I got there

Treated very rapidly
Put in bed at four
Had a brain scan
They were worried a bleed
No one was sure
My head was really battered
The wounds glued
I can say
Brought back by a Red Cross car
And I drove back
That day
It’s amazing what the body does

Tomorrow some pharmacist
Is coming to look me over
As for doctors they enlist
Others now to do their work
Triage is the word
Photograph your injuries
No matter how absurd.
