Sensitive and motherly
the great apes I adore
the person of the forest
Orangutan whats more
loving to the point of no return
their quivering soul
arborial their rigour
completely in control
slow movers in the canopy
their great long arms exceed
their body length
their high wire acts
their deep feeling to succeed
truly wonderful mothers
who teach their babies
to
live and love and care for
everything they do
all the fruits imaginable
like the durian, sublime
some humans will not partake
but I do, but I cannot climb
the vibrance of the forest
a cacophony of sound
minstrels really everywhere
up high and on the ground
its a magical grove of greenery
a flush of fruit so sweet
enthralling just to be among
A responsive place to meet
every kind of creature
rainbow colours be
So arresting to the eye
by the truthful constancy
Orangutans so slowly
Swing broadly from tree to tree
enlivened by the rich warm air
that inspires them powerfully
The tragedy are bunters
they make an easy kill
and are very often eaten
and their babies sold
its a chill
wind that blows when the babies
become pets as they do
ignorance is manifest
the hunter clueless to
the need to stay with its mother
who teaches it all it knows
pet orangutans are a wasted source
and honestly still pose
Unbelievable torture
And a life committed to
a human cage forever
locked down a prisoner who
will then be trained by humans
will lose their mentality
stolen from the wildness
and never again be free
the harshness of that moment
the harassment they feel
the loathsomeness the purgatory
its very very real
the babies feel bad factor
dissidents alas
suffering intensely
and many now enmasse
Dr Birute took the challenge on
to give her life and she
stood to gain a great respect
rejoicing constantly
retraining the babies
being a mum again
her radiance so special
a beautiful refrain
so many families perish
for Palm Oil we have seen
the trees have all been squandered
torn down , they have n
been
Replanted with Palm oil
a cash crop a gargoyle
Of ugliness and stressfulness
and indigenous toil
all for oil a plenty
so much life be lost
behold the emerald forest
with its miracles all lost
Inlove the family Orangutans
so gentle yet so strong
they nest up in the canopy
in the jungle they belong
immensely intelligent
and affectionate as well
what man has done to the animals
proves he was born in HELL?
