Elephants and Ivory and China

There is a growing realisation
Out there
In Villages in China
People see
That Elephants have Ivory
And to want to use that substance
animals have to be killed
And seemingly

Some assumed before
That it wasn’t the case
But now they know for certain
To be sure
That rather evil hunters
and poaching gangs are at it
Murdering the wildlife And
To ignore
This brutality the Chinese
Are beginning to realise
That elephants need to be
Protected
Most know of the Mammoth Ivory
Found in the permafrost
And want to see

That this old Ivory is utilised
Not killing present elephants today
And certainly not engaged in smuggling
Evil all the way
Out of Africa and back to China
In their case
It’s beginning to dawn on some
Part of the human race
Ignorance is out there
But now there are no excuses
Elephants are needy of their tusks
And the abuses
That the market causes
For the ivory tusks that people use
Carving ornamentals
It’s so wrong that we abuse

The Russians are now selling the
Permafrosted stuff
4000 years under the Ice
And it appears enough
To satisfy tHe Chinese
And so the exports flow
It’s the black market criminals
That Poach elephants
That show
Up now in the various parks
In Africa and why
They still are murdering elephants
And overland they try
To get the stuff to Hong Kong
No questions asked and lies
And so the trade continues
And it is no surprise

The fact that the Chinese Govt
Are stamping down on some
Giving them heavy prison terms
Locked down in Kingdom come
Probably forever
With lashes everyday
And heavy labour and god knows what
It’s a sentence that will stay

And may begin to help the cause
