Ntanda Mahlanga

For the tribe, for my people
For the love of life we all
Break out and be confident
The over powering school
Of hard knocks and persuasion
Took me through that race
Feeling every sinew
And trying to raise the pace
South Africa was burning up
Under the weight of why
Would a man one of them

Try to reach the sky
Fight The opposition
Give it all he’s got
With self esteem his elevation
It had to mean a lot
The Rising Phoenix Social Party
Paralympics they
Take the commonality
The grass roots that all play
The simple the unennobled
He did it for them all
A billion voices
A billion heartS
He answering the call

Stand proud one Ntando Mahlanga
With such tenacity
The wonderment of nationhood
Running constantly
A breathtaking example
Of what the spirit can
Achieve when it’s desiring
Of fearlessness of man
The Phoenix rose spectacularly
It’s feathers bold and true
It took the hearts of everyone
Up there in the blue
Resolute and ready
With grim determination
Resolved to win that medal
At his true foundation

His rigour and his energy
He attacked that race with grit
Ran his heart out his concentration
Really that was it
Persistent and just steadfast
His unflagging efforts did
Get him a silver medal
It was his maiden bid
His mind his own
That toughness
Against all odds he came
Rebellious and self willed
He was there To claim
A medal for his people
Ungrudgingly he strove
His self imposed initiative
Well finally it drove

Him to pick up his medal
A beautiful silver coin
And a light was born within him
And everyone could join
Could be a part of winning
Prompting so much support
And everyone was happy
Happy in the thought
