To the Cotswold family of druids

As a past master of house arrests
And lock downs let me say
It can really get to you frighteningly
We begin To forget what day
But what we have is something else
Rituals at places that
Are memorable and historic
Helping us know where we are at

The veracity of druidry
It’s ritual and it’s past
That we chronicle the experience
Each enactment it does last
Reflecting on each moment
And the conceptual way
We via our bard create
A visual aid upon the day

At Cotswold order we have
A smallish groups of friends
With pastoral reflections
Which The pagan way defends
The magic and the spirit
And the lucidity
With its honour and its healing
And it’s bardic clarity

The balladry is out there
The willingness to be
Caring and all sharing
The fruits and harmony
To commemorate the solstices
The equinoxes too
And the other natural
happenings where ritual
Brings us through

The predetermination
To come together and
To notice Nature’s gifts bestowed
Right across the land
Ordered within each circle
Respect and friendship we
Share a true alignment
And a wisdom constancy

Now we see descended upon
Us a perhaps elongation
We are losing our freedoms
And that is no salvation
We were realising fellowship
Our emotions charged and now
It’s all been taken away from us
And we are wondering how

We have much to fall back on
Our togetherness
What’s become our sociability
A credible success
Cordial and hearty
Our gatherings inspired
The obliging affability
That we have all acquired

At this moment we have the internet
Though that may soon be taken down
We have our faith and meaning
We have genius and the clown
Healers and a wealth of players
Good will and helpfulness
Blessings and liberality
and empathy no less

Let’s remind ourselves of the good times we may have taken for granted
And hope that this taste of bitterness will lead on to a sweet nosegay again

When we can join together in familial harmony
