Sea turtles and their fate

So much thoughtlessness
prevailing
In our world today
As far as the sea turtles
They are made to pay

A huge price for existence
In the cluttered
and polluted world
So much crap and litter
On the beach
and we have hurled,

Stuff off bridges river banks
And so much ends in the sea
And that affects the sea life
And the turtle frighteningly

We all have seen the turtles
Coming back to lay
Their precious eggs
where they were born
And hatched the other day

To them perhaps many years
But each year they return
Struggle up the ever filthy beaches
Their concern,

To continue having families
And so therein they lay
And man the great and arrogant
Is after them right away

So collecting wild eggs
Means of course
a death sentence for each egg
All that struggle all that fight
Every exhausted leg
and heart
Is spent on digging and burying
And returning
And man is there to steal them all
Which is very concerning

Then of course of commercial fishing
Long lines, gill nets,trawling
Drifting, Seine nets more and more and all of
It’s appalling

How so many turtles are murdered in this way
And sold off to the Asian Markets
Who are exhausting markets
Every single day

Then coastal development
Beaches carved about
And all the crap we leave about
Really there is no doubt

All these massive cruise ships
Dumping every day
All that shit and plastic crap
It just gets in the way

Of every living land based soul
And turtles suffer so
The Asian market for turtle flesh
And turtle shells does grow

Using is abusing,
turtles when we call
For special combs
for spectacle frames
And guitar picks each fool

Who wants and buys such items
Here is my thought for you
I hope your bloody hair falls out
And your eyes get sore it’s true

And as for guitar music
Why should your music thrill
Anybody’s heart and soul
When the bloody pick did kill

A beautiful hawksbill turtle
Killed these souls stone dead
As for your music it just
Sounds so awful in my head

The so called “black market”
Should be renamed for we
See far more animals tortured
In the “yellow market”
See

Wild tigers lions and turtles monkeys
Dogs and cats
Almost every creature
even the fruit bats

Chinese traditional medicine
Is guilty and more and more
Animals are wiped out by the
Carnage and the gore
the rhino and the hippo the wolf
The fox the shark
The ugliest predation on this earth
Is where China leaves its mark

The pangolin the chimpanzee the bears
All three of these
The gorillas and the marmosets
All facing the squeeze
So the “YELLOW MARKET”
where scoundrels want a share
And are making a fast buck
BY plundering wild life everywhere

And so the trade in turtles
From Florida was born
The Americans are at it
For the meat and pet trade
Torn
Unbelievable prices
Can be got now in Shanghai
And so the illegal trafficking
Is very very high

In Vietnam the tiger cake
Another anomaly
They have more or less killed off
All the wild tigers
And we see

Caged and other big cats
Their bones are not as good
And so they have switched to lion bones
Though most of them we should

Realise they are captive too
South Africa muscles in
To the tiger cake trade
And canned hunting lions
Creating the new sin

Of shipping lions to the Far East
Describing them as wild
Mixing monkey bones and turtle shell
The “yellow market” styled
very much on lying
Not a tiger to be seen
Just captive lions bush monkeys and turtle shells
Obscene!

As for the US yes their share
Licences should be made
If it’s going into the “yellow market”
Prohibition laid

Australia another market
And the Torres Strait
Murdering the turtles and the dugongs at a rate
Under native rights being abused
Now every day
As
Aboriginies they go all commercial
And way way

too many turtles
Are being murdered by being
Chased and killed
By crushing them with heavy rocks
So much blood is being spilled

Bleeding slowly whimpering
dying in the sun
The evidence is substantive
But nothing’s being done

The AUSTRALIAN government
Are sitting on their hands
Grey suits in their air conditioning
Of them we are not fans
Their ignorance of nature
Is vast and really bad
Adding to the numbers of turtles
Which is sad.
