“Princess”

A sanctuary in Israel
Catering for souls
Beaten up and left for dead
Who do take on their roles
As work horses a carrying
And shifting night and day
Often owned by human beings
Whose dullness on display
Is evident
Such insensitivity
Truly the unfeeling
And inhumanity

Donkeys can be joyful
They are hardworking and do
Basically just quietly gO about their lives
Their view
To be responsive actually
Unruffled in their way
And they often get ill treated
By the rogues along the way

“Princess” she’s one joyful soul
With a little foal
She is in the sanctuary
And we do need to console
Her and her little offspring
What she needs is care
What she lacked was love of course
It just was never there

Donkeys they are sensitive
Are emotional and aware
They love feeling some tenderness
But in reality it’s rare
Because they are seen as working souls
They are abused it’s true
And the meanness of the human
Really it does work through

The sanctuary they are in
Near KFAR YONA I hear
In the Sharon District
East of Netanya where it’s clear
Without funds they are closing
And the donkeys probably
Will end up back in somewhere
Closer to their purgatory

In Israel there is money.surely people there
Will see the need for help and cash
To help them
And to share
Some offers and some time to love
So these donkeys can receive
Some love and joy and caring
That is I believe
The least that anyone can do
For the hard pressed feeling pain
And hence the poem Informing
And hoping it’s not in vain

Being caring to the downtrodden
Really Is a way
Of boosting people’s karma
Helping to allay
The cruelty and misery
That animals do feel
Its a sanctuary that does
Need help that much I know is real

So anything that can be done
Let’s hope Princess will see
A life line and a suitable place
For a new sanctuary.
