A country road
A windy day
Thorny hedgerows
We can say
We stopped the car
Because we saw
A terrier there
But We were not sure
We peered through the thorns
And he was there
A Black and Tan
In some despair
Clearly limping badly he
Came out to greet us
Expectantly
He was in great pain
That much much we knew
And so took him
To a place and crew
That would help him
“HOWL A DOG RESCUE”
To be examined by someone who
Could help “Vlad”
Could help hopefully
See what was wrong
And try to be
A double fracture
Apparently
At least a week old
Purgatory
The mental anguish
Of being there
In all those thorns
No one to care
His eyes were full of sadness
He
Had fretted long and hard
To be
In this place now
We fortunately
Could help him recover
And try to see
he needed metal plates and screws
Pain meds’ of course
And love, the blues
Though soon he just forgot for he
In three weeks recovered
Amazingly
A joyful soul a wagging tail
Ears up he just couldn’t fail
To try to please
To try to be
Positive for all to see
Healing well
Looking good
Learning to sit
Like good dogs should
Eager to please
Eager to be
In a new home soon
“VLAD” a key
Canine friend
For anyone
This lovely soul
What he had done
In his short life
And recently
Was come back from
purgatory
And run about
And hopefully
Rejoice in rapture
And just be
Himself
