A homeless dog
Kept following different ladies on the street
Affirming some acceptance
Or hopeful of a treat
Disguising one’s affection
Is no a easy thing to do
Being a homeless animal
and being voiceless too
A white dog
Clearly hungry
But willing we could see
We approached her with some biscuits
And she clearly wanted to be
cared for
Everybody does
out there on the street
Trying to be compliant
And showing that she would eat
The lady had a biz smile
And soft hands on my face
She had a leash of red
She didn’t need to chase
I was prepared to just sit there
And see what she would do
She carefully put the leash on me
Because I took the view
That she was wanting to care for me
And out here on the street
Cars whizzing by
And people all we see is feet
Going this way going that
We follow for a while
But very few will stop and talk
This one was off the dial
She was just an angel
Come to be a friend
Took me in her car she did
To the vet did send
It’s mandatory to microchip
In Romania she
Had not been chipped
But her blood was good
And so apparently
Lice and fleas were a problem
So we treated her
And we
Shampooed her with some medication
Cleaned her thoroughly
She wasn’t use to walking on a leash
We have to say
But we had her spayed
And checked out
All on the same day
She is a joyful little dog
Tail wagging all the time.
Each day just more euphoric
She just loved to climb
A really passive super hound
As kindly as can be
Waiting for adoption
And a forever home to see
Waiting for a forever home
