Wild animals they had no say
Predators just had to pay
The natural order was one thing
But where man was he was the king
The jungle kings they had no say
Until now they could roar all day
Pounce on antelope and deer
But know their place and make it clear
Draconian laws and depravity
Discipline and rigidity
Cruelty the whip hand here
Unbending really and severe
Masterful and domineering
Restraining somewhat and always fearing
The whip, the scourge the rod of iron
And a sense of keeping one in line
The circus was severity
A rigorousness an authority
On taming the wildness
The spirited strength
Or really going to a great length
To quieten the sinew to lessen the nerve
To victimise and straighten the curve
To inflict justice and to shed blood
Tricks and more tricks a great flood
Of tricks and situations where
The wild spirit it would share
There couldn’t be a harder way
Each show of force would always pay
Subjugation tyranny
Wildness drowned out tragically
Circus never was seen as fair
Uncompromising everywhere
Abusing animals everyday
In a relentless vile display
Audiences they tended to
Be taken in quite clueless
True
to life perhaps
But far and away
Real abuse just everyday
From now until eternity
Circus ends we shall not see
Subjugation anymore
The callousness of natural law
The bludgeoning of brutish souls
The unforgiving wilder roles
Pardoned and humanity
Will moderate to leniency
