4 little puppies (the tar babies)

JEENA PEANUT PRIYA and JESSI

A really sorry state of affairs
4 puppies on a heap
Concealed in tar
Stuck fast they are
Clearly they did reap
A whirlwind of emotions
A fetid sticky ooze
That spread around
And captured them
Which must have been
Bad news

Four little souls
Lay frightened
Whimpering away
For them the curiosity
On that given day
A rubbish heap
Piled with builders tins
And straw and wood
The four
All caught up in stick tar
That had hardened
More and more

It is hard to stay positive
And clear these souls they
Just hoped to god
Someone would find them
Before they passed Way
The street angels were notified
And came to see them, they
Brought some vegetable oil
And blankets
To soften the tar
They say

That is the easiest option
Freeing them from the mess
Took them back to hospital
Hoping to ease their stress
Picking off the lumps of tar
Clearly the puppies were
Frightened all out of their wits
At what did now occur

A team were carefully softening
Rubbing and cleaning away
Tar that had got onto their heads
And into their eyes
The day
The angels came to rescue them
Each being cuddled and shown
Washing away the tar and dirt
More than any had known

In a bowl of warm soapy water
Feeding them everything stuck
It took many hours to free them
As sad as it was it was luck
That they had been found
And treatment
Was happening right away
For three days the pups
Were repeatedly washed and
Loved with the warm soapy spray

Dried cared for cuddled
They soon found their hearts
Beginning to play up
As they
Met with their mother
Who gave them some milk
Which is then when
They wanted to play

Health comes back rapidly
Confidence grew
The angels were with them
Hope clearly true
It wasn’t much longer
And all of them they
Were back in fine fettle
And wanting to play

Four little puppies
Full of energy
A tired and weak mother
Though clearly was key
To the puppies improvement
And the angels as well
Played with the puppies
Relieved that their hell

Was gone they were happy
As sand boys for sure
Bouncing around the yard
Barking and more
Heartened and buoyed up
And no longer sore
Very impressionable
Clearly they all
Blessed by the angels
Had answered the call
Youthful high spirits
And vitality
“JEENA” and “PRIYA”
“Peanut” and “JESSI”

Not forgetting their dear Mother
