In this great big world of ours
Neglect apparently
Is really very widespread
And animals do see
And feel a lot of terror
Like working donkeys they
Get paired up with real bastards
Every single day
Who disregard their food intake
And the weight that they can hold
They seem unconcerned and neglect them
When They are often as good as gold
They work all day for a little straw
And never ever complain
But struggling up those hills sometimes
Can bring incessant pain
And it’s then the donkeys slow up
And really need to rest
One such donkey head down
Not feeling his best
An ear torn off in some way
Maggots wriggling there
Clearly that poor donkey
Crying in despair
The street angels were notified
And along they came to see
Somehow his ear was shredded
There for all to see
Lifted him into the ambulance
And took him to the care
Facility to be looked At
And when he got there
Covered the wound in maggot powder
To kill them at a squirt
Syringed and washed the area
For 20 days it hurt
But “flopsy” was a fighter
A warrior for sure
He stood up and was counted
Like no donkey before
As the wound began to heal
Cuddles yes we gave
Many cuddles every day
To the little brave
Donkey feeding every day
By hAnd our care was great
And now he runs about the yard
And stands there all sedate
really he has come on a lot
A handsome little soul
Went through such a lot of pain
But he was in control
And now he potters around the yard
Chewing on the hay
And looking thoroughly happy
Every single day
Animal aid unlimited
