A call on the helpline
Advised us that there
Was dog in the street
Looking poorly
Aware
of some sort of swelling
We went for to see
And sure enough
He took biscuits
But was drooling
For he
Was in pain
That was obvious
And all alone
And love and care
Clearly nothing he’d known
His tail though was wagging
But he just ran away
He came back he was friendly
Ate a few biscuits
But fear took him away
He wouldn’t just come with us
A net the idea
So we got him and
Helped him
To over come fear
Rode with him
In the ambulance
Giving him care
He was clearly in pain
But very aware
When we got back
He was prepared
Our vet she sedated him
For he was scared
And then he was cleaned
Shaved and we saw
A very big abscess
His pain must have been raw
Made an incision
And the pus and the blood
A mini river
A perfect flood
Cleaned out the wound
A drainage vent
Sutured the wound
And then for days spent
Cleaning and dressing
After a month he was looking and feeling
Better than ever
His demeanour revealing
How much he loved being
Cuddled his joy
Was just unbelievable
Such a sweet boy
