Half way between Summer Solstice and the Autumn Equinox

August brings its warmth and warm abundance
To the fore
Harvest time when fruits are bursting
And grains to fill our store
The sun and moon together
Resplendent in the sky
Corn dollies representing
The harvest mother, I
Love this month
Lammas Towers made out of corn stalks true
Rebirthing it’s the essence
Of the celebration LUGH
To Rollrights on a hill
In Oxford
Ancient standing stones
Looking down on Chipping Norton
You can feel it in your bones
The great abundance moving
Into the spirit where
The druids decked in
Robes create
A ritual all may share

Balf way between the Summer Solstice
And the Autumn Equinox
The first harvest festival
Spirited how it unlocks
The freedom to share noble bread
And juices of the vine
Soak up the warmth of Summer
In an interlude divine
Hazel picking up
Where Holly left us
The goddess tree
Such inspiration flies
Honouring the sun god
And his mother
He a warrior a poet
Of the wise
Revealing healing
Powerful energy
In the open collectively we play
Who can throw the rubber boot
The farthest
Or tow the rope
And open up the way
To a time of true festivity
And honour
A willingness to participate
And earn
A countenance with alchemy
And each warm embrace
Bard ovates and Druids
Together learn

And share the comforts
Really of an afternoon together
Filling lungs with laughter and with glee
Participating and relating
To the games of Lugh
Creating true respect eternally
The lights stare picks out pigments
Of such beauty
A calming breeze to soften
And to show
The sky as blue as ever
And balmy clouds that never
Fail us as together they bestow

Significance and willingness
To quantify
To come together sharing as we know
We sanctify suggestions of just being
Able now to magnify the flow
Of energy and the Celtic synergy
Revitalised and enduring we proclaim
A ritual to remember
From Within our sacred circle
And Lugh’s presence in what is
His noble flame
