Wild birds of Australia

Great swatches of colour
Lighten each day
With so much intensity
And lustrous display
The greatest of artists
The world ever knew
Has created feathers
Of every hue

Meteor flashes, flickering lights
PolorIzation and all at the heights
Of imagination where the parrot hordes fly
Flambuoyant effulgent incandescent of eye
Auroral blushing limelight and more
Our eyelashes flicker
Feeling the raw
Primary colours
The prism of life
The vivid the brilliant
It all seems so rife

Garish and gutsy lurid and loud
Look at the pastels muted and proud
Mellow and weathered harmonious too
Pearliness hoariness piercingly true
Alabaster and chalk marble and snow
The great parrot clouds
Where ere they go

Charcoal and soot pigmented gloom
Monochrome slate the grizzly tomb
Copper and cinnamon mahogany
The rose fingered dawn
And the rich burgundy
Cadmium copper
Mustard brimstone
The greenwood the olivine
Sallow thats shown

Gentian and ultramarine
Damsons too
Tigers eye peacocks tail
Shot silk will do
Dapling stippling reticulation
The parrots are coming
A motley creation

Chameleons grizzled skewbald and roan
Streaked and striated
Each visual is known
Perceive for that moment
The thrill of the cloud
Of the parrots their fire
All magick endowed

As they sweep on the thermals
And swoop into view
A great revelation
Their pageantry too
In flight entertainment
The greatest tableau
Then gone in an instant
Lost in the glow

Their stream of consciousness
Their power of thought
They are the marvel
That our eyes have sort
Their cerebration their brooding sighs
Their retrospection
Up into their skies.

The wild birds of Australia give us so much
