YU chi tang or Sharks Fin soup

A gelatinious texture a tasteless bowl of stew
From the cartilaginous dorsal or pectoral fins
We do
Go against createdness and 400 hundred millions years
Of the truest eco systems adding to the fears
Of unbalancing the oceans with our annual slaughtering
For the so called sharks fin soup idea
That to our tables bring

The ultimate in torture finning it is called
Slicing off the fins of sharks who then it seems are hauled
Back into the ocean to suffocate below
A baseless groundless gesture which many do not know
The cruelty the arrogance the ignorance of man
His hollowness his enmity who could be his fan
This ancient dish created thousands of years ago
When mercury and PCB’s were really very low
Now the threats of poisoning are very very high
Sterility in men and dementia it is high
We have to wake up to the cost we cause to those who feel
A show of wealth is evident for now its very real

Sharks are being decimated all around the world
Key predators their slaughter really we have hurled
Our vast act of defiance into the melting pot
Our brazenness is insulting, and the outcome now is not
To realise our error our belligerent display
But to carry on this killing spree every single day
Really tens of millions are wiped out and we know
The oceans are now dying there is no ebb and flow
Nutritionally the so called soup is but a watery stew
Inflated by the advertising hype so the clueless who
Imagine they are part of something wonderful and they
Will benefit from its purchase which is rubbish I can say

We truly have to understand the reasons why we source
Our food and why the natural world creates a real life force
Sharks need fins its obvious whereas for man now we
Must be grateful for existence and really try to be
Appreciative and indebted to the creatures in the sea
Not waste them for some ancient soup from the SONG Dynasty
We really are unmindful of the true value of the shark
Grudgingly we murder it a soul that makes its mark
We look a gift horse in the mouth and slaughter it at will
And suffer for our arrogance as our own blood we spill

Those based around the snobbery are culpable and they
Must realise their wickedness when they trespass far away
The injustice of each moment the outrage that they cause
Its unfitting and its vulgar and we really have to pause
Realise the terror we inflict upon the shark
Its iniquitous behaviour really it is dark
It discriminates and ofcourse we pay a price thats very high
For not only millions of sharks out there but some consumers die

And truly its for nothing no food value at all
Just the chicken and the vegetables really it does gall
Any thinking person to see these deaths and pain
For snobbishness and contempt and the purest disdain
Black marketeers and the mafia for them its very clear
Take advatage of you all and just stifle the fear
Out of your minds completely but listen to me will you
Stop this pointless slaughter whatever else you do
