TOBACCO AND THE CHILDREN

This world of misadventure
Where cruelty is rife
Under the cover of distant lands
The devil weilds his knife
To the hurtfulness and the detriment
Of children of the world
Bright buttons of imagination
Who in spitefulness are hurled

The wickedness of corporations
Whose wretched villainous schemes
Sinister and delusional
The stuff of our bad dreams
Obnoxious and injurious
Deleterious to all
Who quietly from their boardroom darkness
Hellishly appal.

The giants and the minions
Farming fraternities
500,000 family farms
And the children too
They seize
Tobacco is the chosen crop
The addictive one of old
Cultivating and harvesting
What has becone green gold

From 8 years they are at it
Working every day
Fertilising each plant plug
Watered by hand they pay
A high price for their poverty
Picking and bundling too
It really is slave labour
But all that they can do

Indonesia sees children
Really at the brink
Handling this noxious plant
More than people think
Disadvantaged underfed
Crying out to play
But having to help their parents
Every single day

A desertion of dignity
A truancy to learn
Resigned to real hard labour
Under the sun they burn
Relinquishing their status
As children to become
Withdrawn defective cast offs
Hurting badly some

Suffering from symptoms
The poisoning that does
Leach into their precious skins
The dizziness the buzz
The confusion the nausea
The vomiting and more
Children smile
But all the while
They are ruining their core

And really what is it all about
An industry that kills
Addictive from the beginning
Deliberately it spills
The blood and snot of adherents
Who suck into their souls
The nicotine and ugliness
That anyway controls

Through a pathway to our breathing
Comes this noxious burning smoke
That soon becomes a ritual
An addiction that will soak
Deep into our tissues lodging
In our fat and lean
Complete indoctrination
And now wholly obscene

For it not only kills the farmers
But the smokers too who feel
That their minds their own
But it isnt
As science does reveal
The irreversibilty
Of the multi layered smoke
The perversity of feeling
That you kind of want to choke

These very same conditions
Are felt by children who
Handle the tobacco
And really suffer too
Throwing up their acidic bile
Their bloodshot eyes on fire
And they are just handling the leaves
And it makes their existence dire

Governments have known this
Known the implications
But taken taxes and turned away
Offering salutations
Empty baseless corruptive schemes
To prolong the agony
Many ministers are shareholders
In the tobacco industry

We must not forget the pesticides
Made up and of course sprayed
No one reads the lsbels
So on them all its laid
The most toxic organophosphatez
Causing cancer and most know
Damaging chromosomal health
And really how they grow

Dangerous to their being
To their reproductive health
Damaging their sperm counts
Really there is a weakth
Of knowledgevout there significantly
The EVILs are immense
But still children On the front line
Are working which makes no sense

And many of the common brands
Are caught up in this trade
Their coffers full to heaving
Such sophistry us laid
Open to the public but no one seems tob see
The agony and the torture
Of the children now who be

Contrary to reason a sickly suffering breed
Mislead from the offset
Letting advertising lead
People diwn the wrong path
To a place if utter hell
Where choking becomes the normal thing
And just not breathing well

Seeing children puking
Cross legged on the ground
Heaving theur heads aching
The siclevman around
To whisk off to death before
Their precious timewhere they
Might vomit blood and sinew
And be in the worst dismay

Another reason to give up smoking altogether
The health of innocent children
