Romanian Zoo’s

NIclae Ceausesu
Under his authority
Apparently
Keeping wild animals
Mercifully
Gave strengtH to those
Who absorbed their pain
Their shock and their awe
And their sad refrain

All of their zoo’s
Apparently
Are deplorable
And Their destiny
All the more terrible
When we do
Talk up the standards of the EU
Remainers dwell on this
But then we
See the tiny cages
And in them there be
Ragged tigers
Crippled Lions
Bears in purdar
With all the signs
Of complete madness
Covered in shit
On the ground where
They forced to sit

The most unhappy souls around
Facing their slaughter
Too I have found
At Timisoara
They cooked all the birds
A lion was poisoned
If you are lost for words
Just realise the rest will be
Put out of their misery
