The Lilacs are all a flourish
As are the chestnuts, they
With their candle blossoms
Are welcoming each day
The copper beech
At last its leaves
Have exciting colour
That achieves
A rhapsody for wintry eyes.
Still laden down with hot frost pies
No rain to speak of
But the cost
Is even in may
Some morning frost
The spring bulbs came and went
We know
The dandelions this year
Did glow
The blue bells felt the hailstones
And
The little lambs didn’t understand
Now its Beltaine so they say
Behold the so called first of May
The may poles phallic feel is here
Maidens clad in ribbons cheer
The heart for certain that they do
But despite that
Its a cold one too
Rivers have dried up
And they say
hose pipe bans
Are on the way
Bale fires burning
So that we
Can thaw out
And now hopefully
Realise that Summers come
May blossom was early
Rule of thumb
sharing the rollright symphony
The ancestral strength
Appears to me
Its the knowledge of justice
And the love of it we
As druids beyond all else
Can see
To be read out at the ritual on 7/5
At the rollrights stones during the
Mead and cake session by Zakoor the BArd
Of the Corswold Order of Druids.
