JAWS

In 2006 Peter Benchley died
Regretting his book had caused such a devide
The great White Shark he had written about
Was A fictional character without a doubt
But alas for the sharks the film and the book
Got hold of the psyche of man and it shook
It out of reality and into the realm
Of horror and terror with him at the helm

He was beside himself that he had effectively caused
Such an unholy change and if only he had paused
Prior to writing it he would have done so
As his want to protect them thereafter did grow
100 million sharks are killed every year
Compared to sharks killing us which is so clear
12 or so victims just 12 which is true
Mistaken identity the common view

Shark finning murders 11417 each hour
Unbelievable agony and that is true now
For soup for the Chinese gelatinous gruel
Made of chicken stock that breaks every rule
Frank Mundus caught his shark in 1964
JAWS Was written 10 years later and whats more
When the film hit the world one year later he knew
What he had done to the sharks which was always his view

They may never recover and of course he was right
For The book and the film caused a terrible slight
It just put the wind up so many it seems
People hearing the music today have bad dreams!
If the shark were a human be sure they would be
After killing us all for the figures you see
Of what we do to them is so out of hand
That Nobody anywhere could understand

But those are the figures human deaths very few
In reality people you know what to do
Be clear with yourself sharks are predators and they
Want seals not surfers thats the ocean way
They want the blubber it sustains their need
If they wanted us the figures would lead
JAWS was pure fiction the author said that
So Respect him and realise where he was at

And listen to Captain Paul Watson
He more than any other knows the truth of the matter.
