One of a dozen islands
Around Japan today
Where cats outnumber people
In relation to the way
ZEn saw cats as endearing
With a freedom to endow
Privileged and prosperous
Each living in the now

0nly 15 humans live there
Day to day
All of them are fisherman
But the cats they have their say
To all intents and purposes
They are the rulers there
Wholly independent of which they
Are aware

They hunt and do get fish sometimes
If they are deemed too small
Otherwise they all get by
Climbing on the wall
Living in a abandoned houses
And an abandoned school
Clearly since they rule the roost
Its governed by them all

And they are remarkably healthy
And tourists visit too
So clearly they get extra food
And live a life thats true
Historicity apparently is the bedrock
And the way
Cats are given suffrage
And the order of the day

One boat periodically
Delivers their supplies
Its a cats nirvana
Their inherency of wise
A unity of purpose
A brimming of the blessed
Able to make their own way
And They do pass every test
