Our ever silent friends

Bird song draws a rhapsody
A silence As we lie
Sentinels remitting
Oxygen from high
You really are our fabric
The countenance the air
You accompany every season
Dear friends you are always
There
Providing us with cover
Providing us with care
Your branches lift our spirits
We love you when you are there
You are shelter from an angry storm
We can rest within each bough
You are everything to everyone
We ask yet one knows how

Each least glade the warmth and shade
The pictures you have seen
The memories you offer us
Your stature marks our scene
And underground your pathways
Where mycelium doth glow
A myriad of channels
Where watery pastures flow
Home to bees and beetles
To butterflies and more
A heart as strong as steel itself
You circumvent the law
Your leaves provide the compost
Your fruit rich pickings for
Animals and birds alike
Your solitude is sure
