Cetaceans Lament

Co-existence
That special word
Thats finds itself alone
In amongst the human tribe
Where Many seeds are sown

Being fair and decent
Is, what life’s about
But sadly there is an undercurrent
Resulting in much doubt
A real sparseness of ethic
An abstraction of the whole
Conditional on profit
And that precious goal

Ways around legality
Is the order of some days
Cruelty accepted
As long as someone pays
The piper makes the music
A pathological path
The bottom line the state of affairs
The considered aftermath

As long as it is persuasive
And there’s money to be made
Cetaceans must expect the worst
For on their heads is laid
The corporate profit and loss account
And clearly here will be
The suffering the emotion
And the inequality

As to compensation not a chance in hell
Their mightiness their fullness
They sort their interests well
They have the authority
And the maximum success
Eminently favoured and not expecting less

Its the voiceless ones who suffer
Forced break up of their pods
Socially it all breaks down
Not even their gods
Can help them now they are finished
In the hands of those
Who have no cause for empathy
As the numbers of victims
grows
Take Sea World
Skirting around the laws of hunting
Something they now do capture them and sort them
The perfect skins they woo

Its what makes them the money
The end game so to say
And all the jiggery pokery
That is met along the way
Hubris and regulation
That often brings a sweat
The green wash and the out and out
Is of course entrenched in grief
And the victims taste the horror
Which is beyond belief

The naturalness of freedom
The Capacity of it all
Its really overflowing
How social factors rule
How order and economy
Are life’s true embrace
Companionship and partnership
Is party to their race

Captivity the anathema
The repetitiveness its there
Within each tank of concrete
The haunting and the despair
Rises and it gets to them
Over the march of time
Their impermanence so vivid
Without the depths to climb

The change the mutability
Hope is brought into
The equation its undying
Upholding all they do
Its a sort of revolution
It subverts their inner soul
And its not a substitution
They see it as control

Destiny is pending
They become a casualty
Of the corporation
The monster who they see
Powerless and so helpless
Neutered let us say
Its has a lasting quality
Where once again we pay

the Aquaria are growing
They are out there everywhere
Capturing the nomads
Feeding them despair
Talking up the knowledge
That their customers acquire
And sacrificing dolphins
And Orca’s in the fire

Despite their true intelligence
Part of the slave trade they
Are gathered up in seine nets
And then sent on their way
drive fishing is another ploy
Used now in Taiji
Primarily to serve the aquaria
And wild life parks
Who see
The dolphins and the ORCA shows
As bringing in the wine
Its what the punters want to see
Despite heads on the line

SEA world is so powerful
What it does say, goes
And much of it in plain site
Underneath our nose
It appears to be unyielding
Sycophants as such
Impervious to their victims pain
Clearly out of touch

Take Drive Fishing a blackmark
On an industry where pain
Is metered out each time they find
A pod in which to gain
The pretty souls no marks no rakes
The models if you will
As for the others
As Nature smothers
The Japanese will kill

and Seaworld and other aquaria
Have been in the driving seat
Putting up the money
And really not that discreet
Its because of their requirement
That the drives go on each year
It makes it all quite manageable
And for the fisherman its clear

To say Sea World are arrogant
Is an understatement they
Come out with so much green wash
Its the order of their day
They talk up captivity
As progressive energy
And make up,all sorts of stories
Against being wild and free

They lie so they miseducate
And when you think it through
What happens to their captives
Sea world are clueless too
But clearly they are shocked to hell
Depressed and full of woe
And getting dosed up by big Pharma
To be part of the the show
For me its like a crucifixion
Its torment and its pain
The psyche is sent reeling
And It is hard to keep sane

The depths they dive the miles they swim
The hunting prowess they
The living ocean all around
That fills up every day
The life force the emotion
The beauty of it all
And the great delight of freedom
With so much time for play

Being caught and manhandled
Split up from family
perhaps losing one’s mother
Who you will never see
Both parties feel the sadness
Both parties will reveal
The complete annihilation
Of their life and they will feel

Lost so much so ruined
A personal catastrophe
A languor and a torpor
And an immobility
The violence of the drive
The turmoil in the sea
The emotion that they carry
a liability

The space the ocean offers
The horizon to the sky
The great depths in which to plummet
And on the bottom lie
The myriad of creatures
The colour of it all
And the light the shafts of magic
With everyone on call

The secret world of capture
The hidden one’s can be
labouring in a kiddy tank
For all eternity
In a dark dank warehouse
Yes it has been known
Neglected by the many
And just left there alone

You cannot begin to understand
What life becomes for those
Living hoping loving souls
With each day of this it grows
Like a cancer in the eye sockets
Like tumour in the brain
Lime nothing you ever dreamed of
Until you are insane

These corporates these aquaria
Theme parks and the rest
Who keep us in captivity
Its never in our best
Interests thats for certain
Its all about them, they
Are laying sown their margins
Helping them to pay

Their mortgages and their various bills
And tonnes of SHAMU dolls
These corporates are unfeeling
The roughness of their souls
We exist within their kingdom
Their artificial sea
Chlorinated and fucking hated
By everyone and me

We are travellers and explorers
Pathfinders and pioneers
In a miserable tank of concrete
All our lifetime fears
Of course come to the surface
Our memories are long
Our passion for the ocean
Remain forever strong

And when we are caught and allocated
Say to Somewhere, we
Have to be transported
Some by truck and some by sea
Some by air that torment
That terror drags us down
We never really recover from it
Its as if we drown

Unloading and reloading
It takes much from our soul
As our minds are going crazy
Its as if you drive a pole
Through our brains and twist it
We are suffering so much
Whilst Joe Manby and his entourage
Remain so out of touch

Why not leave us in the ocean
Leave us to be free
Take time to come and watch us
We shall leap and play and be
Available for scrutiny
Why is it you must throw
Us into your dingy prisons
And half the time just go

And all the lousy music
And all those rotten fools
Shouting at the top of their voices
Whilst we are in these pools
Of sin and defacation
Of chemicals galore
And other alien species
And the sun that makes us sore

Doing tricks for dead fish
Thrown at us tell me why
You don’t put living fish with us
That we could catch apply
Your brains you idle humans
We are predators of the sea
Not carrion scoffing vultures
That is, not where we be

Taking our blood and sperm from us
Crooks thats all you are
Lacing our fish with Prozac
All of thus dies scar
You lot now wage war against us
Where are the FBI
We need someone to save us
Because we don’t want to die

In the wild we live forever
Well its seems like that to me
We are always in touch with our family
And with the family tree
We get knowledge and we get loving care
We follow and we lead
The universe is beautiful
Which is why we all succeed

Thats until your greed and ugliness
Grips you and you come
Banging on your rotten pipes
Your engines like a drum
Do not make music we like to hear
Those noises shatter fast
You fuck with our sonar
Its one infernal blast

And just for few beauties
To sell on and turn to cash
The rest of us are slaughtered
Pithed to death like trash
Underneath the tarps
The sea runs red with all our blood
The agony of losing loved ones
In the ensuing flood

My appeal to you protestors
To sea Shepherd and the rest
Save us come and save us
Please save us they so test
Our spirit and our true resolve
Our minds our hearts our souls
Our agony is unbelievable
Come stop these bloody trolls

Just appealing now is harrowing
The sensation here too much
The stridor of the moment
When the fisherman do touch
The discord its cacophonous
It makes us suffer so
As life fades fast from us
Its as well that we can go
