The bull fight at Reynosa

Reynosa on the Rio Grande
Bordering the US
A very violent city
Where drugs gangs
More or less
Rule the roost
The murdering goes on
Unabated there
Mexico kills many a man
So lots of real despair

At the Plaza de Toros de Reynosa
One matador took flight
Was gored and tossed into the air
It was, never a fight
The tortured Bull was angry
That was very clear
Tossed just like a rag doll
Instilling in him fear

An eventuality
An adventure one might say
This tradition to have permission
To even earn some pay
For catastrophic cruelty
On a healthy soul
Attracting people
As entertainment
All out of control

Straw hats children screaming
Couples kissing, they
Witness animals cruelly treated
Every single day
Every time a bull appears
A cuadrilla does their stuff
Breaks down this glorious being
Who must have had enough

Hurt thrust on his body
To enable such a rage
This man was not just gored once
He just flew off his stage
And as he crumpled to the dust
He was, picked up again
And thrust once more into the air
With all the gall and pain

And the bull charged around
The ring with fury
With all his bovine power
In what was his ascendancy
His vigour it did tower
The helplessness of the murderer
Dressed in his silk attire
Were no match for an angry Bull
Whose potency was dire

Whose strength was clearly awesome
The muscularity
The matadors acrobatics
For all of us to see
Flying in a zigzag
Bruised beyond one’s fear
Bounced against the side boards
This injury would be dear

The audience a general one
Out on sunny day
A picnic as they torture
A lovely family way
As men begin their evil
To drag the honour through
To use excessive violence
And do what they must do

Humanity in turmoil
The severity of style
The vehemence and destruction
It was off the dial
Aggression it was everywhere
They goaded and they tried
They inflamed and they enraged that bull
Which of course they denied

The culture of the moment
The city where blood’s seen
Murders happen often
If you have ever been
Along the Southern Rio Grande
Its a pretty lively place
I wouldn’t describe it as safe there
Not a place to base

Any kind of judgement
About the people there
Like Spain they feel bull Fighting
Is something all should share
There is no moderation
Within the ring we see
One after another bulls
Murdered violently

And this bloke got his karma
It struck him down and fast
Hathor clearly got into the bull
And the die was cast
His agony was awful
His side was really bad
The bull would have been murdered
And that in fact is sad
