Fear is a come on to a carnivore

Confidence hangs on the balance of power
Its like an invisible gossamer shower
That protects a flower from the wind and the rain
Frail though it is
It still can avail
Itself of the freedom and strength
From within
And this zoo was a painting
The male wearing thin
His patience on low ebb
His olfactory sense
Picking up fear
Making him tense

Slouched at the side
Eye contact not good
Always look away
Or be misunderstood
Slouched sends one message
Direct eye two
Mixed messages clearly
Will never help you

The male Lion perturbed
Equilibrium wrong
A cessation of posturing
The Lion though felt strong
He went for the man
Who tried to get away
Exuding more fear and panic that day

The Lioness was quick she ran to his side
Nuzzled up to him and quickly denied him
The power to get hold of the man who just ran
This was how all of this drama began
If not for the Lioness it could have got worse
She clearly was quick and did not rehearse
Her love was greater than his wanton fear
If she hadn’t been there to me it was clear
The bloke would have been mauled
His confidence lost
And the lion picked up on it
And it could have cost
Both lives one eaten
The other one shot
It was So good the female
Was there on the spot
