Man eaters

The wildest of wild tigers exists
Now still today
In the Sunderbans in India
And many people pay
With their lives
Allegations rife and of course the reason why
These tigers hunt for humans
And why so many die

They truly are assertive
Emphatically they know
Laying stress on true surprise
They are always in The flow
The striped God rules this area
They affirm their right to be
Insistent and so urgent
With complete veracity

Everything they ever eat
Is hunted down and killed
These mangrove swamps
Are battlegrounds
And where the blood is spilled
They are absolute killers
An enigma actually
Frightfully efficient
Which is how it has to be

Isolated clumps of mud
Its a habitat beyond
Reality their complexity
They kind of have a bond
With the environment around them
They have the upper hand
And its not just sick and injured souls
That kill and understand

The nature of the human being
The fisherman who come
Those who steal the honey
With their hearts that drum
This is tiger territory
A potent weapon here
And hundreds and hundreds
Of victims tragically
Appear

Many unreported their bodies
Seldom found
They track and hunt their own food
And they are pound for pound
Really awfully dangerous
Truly a potent force
And any human encroaching
Must realise their course

The people though are so aware
They appreciate the need
To get their priests to
Pray for them
If they are to succeed
Despite the faith and the solemnity
Still the Tiger can
Take his favourite foodstuff
Which happens to be man

They are ferocious hunters
Equipped to kill on sight
You may not even see them
But they have their own light
They swim they climb they run
They have the strength of ambush they
Are the most majestic earthlings
In the Sunderbans today

They clearly love the water
At swimming they are adept
The environment so suits them
Clearly they have been swept
Along in the great currents
And strengthened by it all
And few have ever escaped an attack
When the tiger came to call

Some do enter villages
But uncannily have not
Ever attacked the humans
Its the cattle humans have got
That attracts the would be killers
And thus presents a case
Why out there in the Sunderbans
Do they hunt the human race

Clearly it is a mystery
How the Tiger run their day
How they live and what they cause
And,who they make pay
How they drink salt water
Which might encourage them to
Take on board the human flesh
As they clearly do

The tides could be the culprit
Its a mystery out there
Its certain that the tiger
Loves the human meat
So aware

They are out there in his kingdom
And some will pay the price
Its swift death comes immediately
And of course it is never nice
They attack to the head from the right side
Its over in a way
All the while they venture
Its inevitable some will pay

There is no defence against them
Tigers are in control
They have such self reliance
They understand their role
Undaunted bold and fearless
The gods of this terrain
Unflinching and unshrinking
Which is why in fact they gain

In a hundred years 300 thousand
Victims there have been
And still,the fisherman go there
The numbers are obscene
But their livelihood is in the forest
Its what they have to do
And the tigers clearly like human flesh
A factor that rings true

India clearly thought it through
They set aside this place
For tigers for the wild ones
Where all the wild ones grace,
Unlike the global picture
Where habitat loss is seen
India is all knowing and is sowing
The seeds of green

She values her wild charges
Which proves to be a way
Of maintaining this wild area
To its quality today
Men know their place
The tiger he rules the kingdom here
And this proves their is foresight
And a future all can share
