They called the new place
Anne’s Haven
Natural daylight everywhere
Piles of sand and lots of tyres
Hay winches its about the size
I am in a cage
3 goats I see
to be my friends eventually
The osteopath said I was fragile
With his imaging camera
His confounded dial
Checking my muscles
And, telling you
I was weak and so frail
He was clueless too
I am not weak
Just a little bit slow
I miss the company
Thats if you don’t know
We are herd animAls
Thats our desire
Being on our own
That really is dire
We talk to each other
And we reminisce
The old way of life
Those stories we miss
You can see me on You tube
Walking along
Though honestly folks
I do not belong
As a solitary elephant
In a fancy cage
Fresh branches and chunky toys
For this old sage
No one to natter to
No one at all
They have made me a victim
Locked in a stall
If only I could just go back
To the time
When I lived with the herd
In the dust and the grime
Feeding myself and just being me
Doing my own thing
When we were all free
The humanised space
Designed by some bloke
When all that I want is a friend
Its no joke
These keepers with bull hooks
Whats that about
Its all smiles and show
When the video’s out
I am old now
Of course I do play
But prefer to rest
And chat my life away
To talk to myself
Is not an event
And I realise now
I shall not be content
Not any longer
Thats is my lot
A marketing video
Thats what they have got
As for my heart aches
They just don’t care
And If the truth be known
Man has never been fair
