A dogs message to those who ran him down

You know I ran my heart out
On that dual carriageway today
My body was at breaking point
I was aching all the way
Of course. I was in panic mode
Didn’t know what to do
With sirens blazing and all the cars
And I was crying too

Clearly they were onto me
The cameras told them they
Should get down here and save my arse
Clearly I couldn’t stay
Stuck there in the slower lane
With cars driving so fast
I was really suffering
In a lot of fear
Of course imagining the worst
The tension here was clear

My heart was really thumping
My breath was running out
I was very close to breaking down
And thats without a doubt
And I know I was getting slower
My paws bleeding a bit
And actually I had bit my tongue
So was going through some shit

I saw the flashing blue lights
And the sirens too I heard
A helicopter overhead
A great big metal bird
Then it felt inevitable
That something had to go
I was trembling and quivering
And just not in the flow

Then suddenly it all went black
And. I was drenched in pain
Something big bashed into me
And blood began to drain
Out of me the agony was short
In shock was I
All i could see was blood and guts
And up into the sky

Some cowardly shit had hit me
Run me down and flew
I remember I was kicking
Trying to get through
What was indeed an injury
A journey far away
To the rainbow bridge
Or somewhere
Throwing caution I did pay
