Wassailing

Come to the orchard my lovelies
Lets choose the tallest of trees
The one that produces sweet apples
And chives grow there under to please

We are all here to wassail and to say
We are now honouring you and today
You will receive us you will agree
What we are coming to do is for thee

Onto your roots the finest we pour
The best vintage cider which will explore
Your roots will impregnate and strengthen
Them well
And pieces of sweet cake also we shall

Tie to the boughs and lay at your root
To gather in Robins and maybe a coot
To leave behind droppings to compliment all
Miracle composting drops that may
Fall

And hang in the branches more pieces of cake
We shall wassail we shall partake
A celebration of what you have done
Given us apples ripened by the sun

And all of the the guardians will fly and be here
The robins whose red breasted warm hearts will cheer
Protecting and guarding our fruits all the way
And on the lower boughs they just may play

Then we shall make noise and bash at the tree
Driving out evil the spirits we see
Mid day will see us all wassailing there
And the harvest thats coming no one dare compare

Cider of the gods is what we shall make
The best brew on earth lets all partake
Lets drink it down and lets be a fan
Of what is for certain the apple tree man

Wassailing the ancient one
