Tuffy

To know what scalding feels like
When humans are aware
A pot of boiling water
Thrown over you
Such despair
Such shock and lamentation
Those wet eyed plaintive cries
That feeling of dejection
And joylessness and surprise

And you are just a baby
As innocent as you can be
Alright you gnawed a cell phone
No bone around to see
You chewed it but it still worked
The contract wasn’t lost
And it all ended in purgatory
It certainly did cost

You took it all that burning
The pain not felt before
A pain you wouldn’t want again
It ripped into your core
The wrath of that sick human
You took it fair and square
Even the pot had hit you
And made your body sore

You remember really cooking
In your own soup for a while
And his raging at you shouting at you
He just did defile
Really all of your being
And till that moment you felt joy
But his anger and the fervour
Sadly he did employ

You remember slinking off
Under the table for a while
Panting with the shock of it
That remorse you felt was vile
Wounded heavy laden with guilt
For what you had done
Then he picked you up
And through you out of the window
Just to stun
Your spirit to eliminate you
Kill you if he could
Flying through the air you were
It certainly didn’t feel good

Crashing down upon the ground
More pain more agony
And then being found
And suffering the care
And adversity
The skin was burned and very raw
The hair fell off in bits
Healing would take ages
And you inclined to fits

Of depression and of so much pain
The tedium of it all
But you had love expressed at large
For the burning and the fall
People did feel deeply
Unctuously awaiting
Your ability to walk
The tingling and grating
Got better very gradually
And you were once again
Ready to be happy
And walk out in the rain

You felt good old tuffy
You knew you could be
Happy in the park again
Even feeling free
Pretending you were happy
Pretending you had joy
Everybody loved you
For you were a happy boy
