A story about two cats and a plaster ornament

That plaster cat is realistic sure
But we both need
To let you know
We know its not
And hope you can take heed

Of this, its kind of awkward
In case you thought that we
Thought that it was real
And that we couldnt see
That it was mean’t to fool us
Or possibly to be
A sort of well, companion
To chat with occasionally

But whilst we kind of
Sniff it, and notice it we still
Know that it is made of plaster
And so it never will

Go and play in the garden
Or climb on the TV
Perhaps thats why you bought it
So as to know where it will be

And you never have to feed it
And it never will be ill
So in essence you are telling us
To be good or else you will

Get a lot more plaster cats
And say goodbye to us
If that is your reasoning
Our need is to discuss

Where we go and what we do
For in fact we are in some doubt
Because the alternative
Actually means
That we maybe move out

No its not a threat from us
We just need to know
And want to tell you honestly
That we both love you so

The idea came from my best friend
Who knows who she is
When her cat was sitting next to the plaster ornament
Looking quizzical
