Broken families

Broken families broken lives
Habitat loss and who survives
The loss of wildness in their heart
And Man un kind’s lies from the start
“To love an elephant and understand
Its nature and culture”
For Its fire to be
Always burning then its needs
Everyone would want to see

Compromise at their level they
Must learn respect
And with their lives pay
We are the anathema it is true
We Create their problems
Yes we do
And provide their strife
We are good at that
As we remove their habitat

And we carry on
Aiding and abetting
We
Make our films
And let you see
Many babies are lost and alone
We have killed their parents
We hear a groan

We steal their wildness
And say we care
We train them to be more aware
To live and to earn a place
To thrive
To work their lives
And to survive

We create adoptions
We teach them art
We tell you its elephants
And they have the heart
To learn to be relevant with their soul
With a paint brush to be in control
Its a medium that brings money in
And is sold therefore as a win win win

It gives good work to mahouts who
Become better people for what they do
As to better elephants
I am not sure
For me to be out on the great
Wild floor
Where they were put all good and free
Or perhaps in a born free sanctuary

Being worked and broken in
Tied and chained it all wears thin
When reminded of phajan
And all it entails
Then in my heart
Of course It fails

Being worked till they drop
Unpaid artists
And out and out cop
Sold as a restful and mental joy
With tiny brushes how they employ
Revolving emotional awareness
And discovery
And of course art stock
That was painted free

It attracts the gullible tourists
All so keen to pay
To watch them at their easels
Their Van gogh’s everyday
Great big flapping Ears and all
And always of course yea on call

Developing dexterity
That is what they say to me
Nothing about the tourists who buy
the pictures
For the reason why
They are made to think that they
Are helping the elephants
Every day
From the real truth
Its a commercial world
Where all these victims
Have been hurled

And then they are put to work again
Logging the forest
Or touristic pain
Giving the rides and earning
The dough
And working all day
In the semi wild show

Which ever perspective
You look at please see
Its a lot of propaganda
That be
Presented via the great
Corporate way
Of helping themselves
To more victims each day

We create victims
Thats what we do
If we have a job
That pays its a view
We restrict freedom
For others and we
Restrict our own freedom of choice
Actually

In the great paradise
We all were born into
We have let the corporate
Rule and in lieu
Of their paper money
And cajoling sphere
We work and we slave
And we feel the fear

Which keeps us all going
The elephants too
We are all victims
Of what corporates do
We are their slaves
As the elephants we
So their dirty work
For karma to be

Tarnishing us sadly
