The Abbatoir in Bowood

Shechita ritual and halal
And organic too
Sees lots of gratuitous violence
It just seems to break through
A place where animals are killed
Apparently one finds
No compassion and no empathy
Its where they cross the lines

Sheep are caring animals
And they must know that they
Are entering a house of death
They feel it in every way
For being then subjected
To rough handling and pain
To being kicked and sworn at
What have they to gain

From mistreating dying animals
Making noises they
Are frightening the animals
Really making them pay
And punching them and kicking them
Its arrant and its wrong
They just don’t have respect at all
They just do not belong

In a place amongst the animals
Their off handed and cavalier
And when they supposedly cut their throats
They do it from ear to ear
But there is no religious tone
No cleansing of a blade
And its clear their heads are hacked at
This is not a trade

Its a place for no good murderers
Its a place where just to be
Shocks the life out of anyone
The Trauma one can see
Its not that I am anti muslim
Or anti jewish, they
Are treating dying animal
In a disrespectful way

And I find this, objectionable
No pre stunning here
Observing the muslim and shechita rules
But to me that isn’t clear
Either there’s no ritual
Just very badly they
Are manhandled and all sworn at
And really made to pay

This cannot be ritual
And the soil association
Is falling down on inspections
Its more a glorification
Of being really ugly and cruel
To sheep and I would rather
Be
a vegan
Than ever watch souls die
So egregiously

Most Carnivores eat their flesh and bones
And just because of me
Animals should be carted off
And murdered insensitively
For that is what is happening
Its a bitter pill to take
Thank goodness I went vegan
Years ago for my own sake

Consumers have to reckon
Have to think about the cause
Of why the workers treat the animals
Badly and won’t pause
Is it a lack of true respect
Or the dumbing down of men
In abattoirs i think it maybe
That and I count to ten

And i am lost for any further words on this
