Farewell Klaksvik for a while

To all the towns in the Faroe Isles
Its a heartfelt message we
The people who love animals
Feel a malignancy
About the grindadrap celebrations
The slaughtering the drive
When the sea turns red
With the blood and dread
And few Pilot Whales survive

The massacre and it surely is
The terror of the sea
Whole families cut to ribbons
And done so mercilessly
That the council up in Scotland
In Wick have written to you
And explained their true position
And what they have had to do

Withdraw the twinning of their towns
Farewell Klaksvik they say
The whole world feels its barbaric
And it cannot stay
In our hearts and minds
It cannot
This evil has to go
These beautiful whales deserve a life
As I think most of you know

You are alienating tourists cruise lines
And now those
Other friends which the letter sends
And surely now it shows
You have to change your ways
Its not a culture to admire
Those families live for freedom
And are cut down in your fire

To Wick we stand in admiration
For what you all believe
Is the way ahead for you
And hopefully it will achieve
And end to all this slaughter
And end to all this pain
We thank you for your courage
In helping to break the chain

In helping to flush some sense back into
A really dreadful scene
In making people look at themselves
And realise where they have been
I know it will help and when it does
Those mighty whales will be
Saved from the awful slaughter
And the long term tragedy
