A family of them came to call

For over half a century
This valiant soul used freedom
To traverse the African plains and scrub
To find his way back home
Rescued and saved by his almighty god
So many time before
Uncared unmuzzled unbridled
A master evermore

Then a trophy hunting family
5 of them decided they
Collectively would participate
On a splendid Summers Day
Dad the red faced smiling one
He is the arse that fired the gun
I was tasting the greenery
That tasty chlorophyl
The bountiful
The generous
The unstinting energy producing swill

When I heard the vilest of sound
Didn’t have time to turn around
Choking on my final meal
Bullets coming of red hot steel
Life was leaving me for real
And that sadness dear ones I cannot conceal

Down I crashed in mortal flight
All I saw was a blinding light
And the agony that I felt did blight
Everything I knew of as sight
I hit the ground and I heard my sound
It crushed by knees
And broke my heart
Lost I was
Well just because
In my own blood I drowned
