Fox hunting

Fox hunting in Scotland
It’s happening
Despite the laws that are in place
We know
Hunters and some local people
Do it anyway
It’s part of their culture
It’s happened since the day
The kids were born
It’s common knowledge
In rural towns today
And legislation makes no difference
Whatever people say

Quietly in locations the hunts
Get on and do
Horses hounds the terrier men
The comradeship all through
Flushing to guns or so they say
But really that’s no true
Hunting carries whatever
Legislators do
And there are many a blind eye
And a strong cupped ear
Around these parts what ere we say
And others who live in fear

The arrogance is out there
Those covering up are there
They even post their hunt dates
With the world at large they share
Trained hounds chasing down
A wild soul protected by the law
And prominent people choosing
To Support them, I am not sure
Truly where they come from
These so called prominent souls
If 84 per cent of us don’t want it
Then the roles
played out by those preferring to
Ignore what we say and how we think
And the bloody law
It’s terrible it’s anti social
It’s ugly it’s not right
Living in our community
It’s a kind of blight
That somehow affects some locals
The police even appear
Not so keen to stop them
Or seem unaware, to me it’s clear
There’s a mood a kind of attitude
Prevailing round a bout
A subtle watering down of thoughts
Creating a kind of doubt

We need now to remind these
People it’s 84per cent
Who want to protect the wild life
Not slaughter, and our intent
Is to preserve and care for foxes
And Badgers and the rest
Not find ways to murder them
Not find ways to test
Those of us who love them
Those of us who care
Those of us who want them
To always now be there

To be what they were born to be
Parents in the sod
Really part of everything
And Truer to their god
