Iris

Iris a 32 years old Chimpanzee
Lived in a cage
In a place Chessatea
A sort of zoo
On the roadside poor soul
In a cramped dirty cage
A dark little hole

In Georgia she was
Filthy as hell
Under a blanket
So I heard tell
Nothing was happy for her
Not at all
All she did was wipe her
Shit up on the wall

Imagine that stress
In a very small place
Lost to the world
Just look at her face
A poignant wee soul
More depressed by the day
Till PETA came by
And to her did say

Save the chimp sanctuary
Clean as can be
Meet up with Abdul
And boy did she see
His great furry eyes
And his lovely big smile
As they both sat together
And groomed for a while

Chimp Island a green place
With tree trunks and play
With a chimpanzee family
All of the day
She would never be alone any more
Lots of hugs lots of love
Of that we were sure
