The vast trailer swings into
An auction yard
They are swept into pens
It all feels so hard
Their bleating their lowing
Their pain we can hear
All those strange noises
Drawing their fear
stuck in this vehicle
For hours and hours
Not given water
Losing their powers
Clearly so fearful
Sensing the worst
Feeling inside of themselves
they are cursed
They are all babies
As timid as hell
Dreading the moment
Smelling the smell
It’s excruciatingly obvious
To them, that they
Are being sold off
TO someone today
They are manhandled
Badly
pulled by their ears
Such exploitation
Fears and then tears
Poked pulled and prodded
Man unkind shows
His vile credentials
Under our nose
Look at their faces
Such consternation
All of their features
Show trepidation
It’s so alarming
To watch what they do
Stand very quietly
Very nervous it’s true
Some look aghast
Haunted in fact
Cowering and cringing
Tormented attacked
What can they do
They have no place to hide
Forced into the spotlight
Their space is denied
Loud voices calling
Slavery they
Are being sold off
To who knows where today
We are so insensitive
They have strong feelings
We decide everything
Part of the dealings
Is we decide
Where they must go
What’s going to happen
It just must throw
Them into confusion
And heighten their fear
We would be fearful
That’s very clear
They work with senses
It’s easy to see
And feel their despair
I am no visionary
And each one communicates
In it’s own way
Laments I am sure
At the end of the day
Taken from their parent
And regretting that so
They have been kidnapped
To be part of this show
Tagged that was painful
Punched through the ear
Why do they do this to us
It’s not clear
We are just numbers
That seems the way
Sold to the highest bidder
Today
Dragged by one leg
Pulled by the tail
We have got feelings too
Why do they fail
To realise that
How would they feel
Tortured I bet they would
break down and squeal
But when it comes to us
Anything goes
We do not suffer
Their tirade and their blows
Their kicks their expletives
We take it all
A dirty old barn
Mouldy food
They appal
Me just expecting
That animals will
Suffer in silence
Really until
The final chop comes
And we hang off the chain
Bleeding out kicking wildly
In terrible pain
But when it suits them
When kiddies come by
Then it’s how cute we are
They look in our eye
Pat us pretend their is love
And real care
And when the kids are gone
That’s when we are aware
It’s a matter of time
When loaded on the truck
That’s when we know they don’t give
A fcuk
We are just a means to an end
That is all
Life it means nothing
Hanging on some wall
Bleeding out tragically
Meat in some pie
Or a burger or sausages
We can rely
On humans to care
When they pat us and say
This one won’t be here
After today
