Cavernous experiences

The intimacy of the moment

created a decade before

the peace and the quiet

and what was the mentation

and his real  contemplation of more

behold in the mouths of the giants

in the rock forms existing below

there are miracles waiting to happen

in the mind of the few they do grow

Rob Paulette a man on a mission

to  work with his hands and his heart

to carve out a place a livable space

where ten years ago he did start

just a few favourite hand tools

for scraping and shaping

and a concept of  purpose and soul

900 hours  of the deepest of feelings

a meditative state on a roll

with his dog by his side

and that pure resonation

chipping away a kind of salvation

the mind and the eyes and the hands

and the heart

creating a new world

right from the start

a forty foot tree

gyrations and more

arboreal splendour

all  in the raw

apocalyptic in so many ways

and an epiphany

for all his days

he calls them

his wilderness shrines

for he knows

they open up feelings

just look how it shows

in his  face how he clearly is moved

by it all

its like underground sound

from each  great sandstone wall

like a new age caveman

he resolutely

hammers away

and with time

 we can see

the pyramid factor

the love of the stone

the feeling of the darkness

and of being alone

of bringing in light

and colour to show

and painting the sandstone

the lily you know

gilding the edges

attracting the light

his magnum opus

within his sight

as a magician

he’s weaving his spells

opening feelings

each cave dig sells

more inspiration

more integrity

to a project so mindful

and his alacrity

purposeful decorative

heightening so

the concept of light

to far down below

its magical meanings

meandering there

livable art

with so much to share

a freshness of sculpture

in a most ancient place

an archaic world

it has to be faced

The spring of the being

the timelessness, he

unlocks from rocks

so auspiciously

theres a build up

its ongoing and showing

great worth

onwards and upwards

but within the earth

the work is momentous

a credit is due

its a new permanence

its good and true

unceasing effort

bewitched he be

converting bare rock

to a great symphony

contoured and scraped and shaped

how it does grow

into a masterpiece

that takes on a glow

of genius of  chance

and great melody

empowering the spirit

to walk aimlessly

to see the perspective

the emptiness too

and the ramifications

of now what to do

the roomage the windage

the  great boundless sphere

the space that we have

that just didn’t appear

till he carved out  a door way

and from end to end

saw the ultimate rainbow

that he called his friend

his new abode

his hill station where

he created chambers

and was then aware

in the bowels of the earth

cave dwelling could be

possible

even a bathroom we see

tiled and with water piped into

the place

where sunbeams and raindrops

together might chase

Rob found his paradise

deep in the earth

he carved out his future

creating such worth

creating real estate

which wasn’t his quest

but a side line in any event

he confessed

by the Rio Grande river

is where he be

digging and shaping

his own history
