Litha ( written for the project dedicated to Luca Ferri a year in his life)

regrowth and harvest

about half way

Beltaine and Lammas

some might say

God and the Goddess

their energy

combined

entwined

for there it be

love and beauty

passion too

marvellous light just shining through

fertility the garlands worn

of elderflower ribbons that adorn

light and flowing

yellow’s whites

the sun god warms

the ensuing nights

blossoms and  fragrance

pretty flowers

harvested fruits

and rainbow showers

baskets of food

and medicinal herbs

flowers in our hair

as along the kerbs

we skip and run

as sunlight falls

the bonfires are lit

in the great dark halls

in the forests dark

flames rise and fall

parties grow louder

just let us call

the bright romance

and fertility

the glowing embers

naturally

scoop up the ashes

for amulets and spells

and charms and tree roots

lets ring the bells

beeswax candles

golden charms

lavender, mint

and wild rose balms

vibrant greens petals galore

the longest day

of that I’m sure

the sacred circles are ours to hold

to join together

in them we’re rolled

each one circles

the one before

and builds our picture

on life some more
