Is the Elephant doomed?

Jane Goodall has come out and said

The elephants now face

a mighty uphill struggle

and now the human race

has got to check its behavior

it has to realize

Ivory is spelling out

the Elephants demise

vast numbers have been killed

supporting Ivory

illegal poaching carries on

each day

nearly 100 elephants are slaughtered

in Africa its the elephants that pay

several countries have not

helped in this process

they wanted the sales revenue

and they

took on CITES and created a market

and now of course it will not go away

Japan was big in Ivory originally

the name seals once of wood

looked better when

ivory was used

and the elephant s abused

this the cause

and all down to the men

making lots of money from these honko’s

as people become richer

so they feel

the need to buy an ivory one

the great land of the rising sun

was growing and its riches now were  real

then China, woke up

from its years of sleeping

it grew and grew and its riches

they were vast

as the western countries took a tumble

China leap frogged over them at last

But China held a great love too for Ivory

and with the means to pay for it

of course

the elephant clearly got a rude awakening

and Africa had them

and thus was the source

up to 50,000 elephants perish

the Ivory Trade is massive to be sure

70% of all of that is for China

and seemingly they just want more and more

the elephant is doomed

that’s clear and certain

and extinction seems a possibility

it could raise prices even higher

as we know

controls and more policing

here should be

A global understanding must be present

Jane Goodalls marches might just sway the vote

she is an eminent women in the conservation battle

but up against the Ivory Trade, her  boat

is out there bobbing on a choppy ocean

the wind is blowing violently  for sure

it could be that she might make land  and safely

but storm clouds seem to roll in even more

in animal rights we know the bloody carnage

the illegal poaching and the canned hunts do

take out many animals and the elephants

are getting murdered it is dire and true

corruption from those countries

in high places

money talks, it always has and will

get to those with debts and those who matter

and more elephants blood of course will spill

Doomed they could be doomed

for man is insatiable

his ignorance is terrible for he

imagines that’s the tusks just fall out painlessly

ignorance and arrogance you see

manifest as  truthfully the worst disease

they counteract the knowledge every day

unless Jane Goodall’s words are truly thought about

it will be the  elephants who will pay
