Holley in the Town of Murray New York “Lets murder some squirrels”

Holley its a small place near New York

On the Eerie Canal and for 6 years or so we

have heard about a Squirrel Slam

and what its like to be

a child in that fair township

and its all for a good cause

to support the local Fire Service

wait for it   I pause

you get a lot of children

arm them to the tee’s

and get them shooting squirrels

yea down from the trees

they haven’t done them any harm

its just its Nature’s way

of providing kid’s with targets

and making it all pay

the mindset of the psychopath

for that’s all I can see

arming children with semi automatics

and letting them be

firing at live targets

killing the wild life

no one in their right mind

would set out to cause strife

but in Holley its the done thing

its considered, all worth while

its gives them all real meaning

if you can reconcile

the mindfulness of people

to murder souls like this

to try and shoot the fattest ones

and that alone is bliss

The Hazzard County Squirrel Slam

is an anomaly if you ask me

it has nothing that is positive

and it lacks all empathy

The Fire Dept personnel

should have banned it long ago

but they seem to welcome this destruction

and call it a fine show

to me it smacks subversion

the mindset of it all

to create these serial killers

and reward them for their haul

and meanwhile squirrel families

for they are a social group

will be stressed out and left lonely

whilst the kids are cock a hoop

I find this really off you know

its pandering to the fools

children with guns

that kill wild souls

break all of the rules

Animals do have rights to live

creation made that so

they have a place in the biosphere

which the kid’s should get to know

be helped to understand them

study them and try

to love their feral animals

not force them all to die

a squirrel admiration

a squirrel care day yes

but this death and destruction

shows me  what a mess

they are in,so evil really

and so lacking clear thought

turning what is murder

into an annual sport

its a sick and twisted pastime

its an evil vile display

it does nothing for the children

and causes great dismay

how can that be positive

how can that be right

killing feral creatures

whose vision is the light

who live alongside all of us

in the wide outdoors

and add to the charm

of life itself

and this is our applause

shoot them down

maim them

slaughter them at will

fire your bullets into them

until of course they are still

short lives become shorter

the kids how would they know

what is right and what is wrong

they feel they are in the flow

a sadness I feel truthfully

for the evil over rides

the sanity that is Nature

and I’m not taking sides

to me the children

are being

abused and left to be

victims in a murder

of the wild folk tragically
