Found on the streets of Guatemala “Walt”

I’m Walt
I was dragged behind this old truck
it was the day that I ran out of luck
it was the day that my world seemed to end
it was the day when my so called friend
dragged me a way down the street on my back
it was the day I felt that attack

It was the day the pain came to be
I was just feeling the dire agony
I could feel my body tearing away
I could taste blood in my mouth
and the day
it happened the harshness of my ordeal
and ever since its been so hard
to conceal

the pain has been bad
oh! I have suffered so
and the maggots are chewing my flesh
and do grow
it is so tender in the extreme
I close my eyes, could it be, a dream
a nightmare a story of horror and grief
such painfulness, and, for it no relief

I was found on the streets
Guatemala my home
once I was living in white house
I’d comb
through the garden the bushes
and all of those flowers
out in that garden I used to spend hours

but out on the streets
where nobody cares
where cars and trucks
rumble and nobody shares
any time for me, no pats or smiles
just a kick and brick
and I live in the piles

of tin cans, and old rugs
and that little park
all day I wander
and when it gets dark
I come to this place
to this space, to lie down
and dream of the next day
somewhere else in town

Look at my body its
ravaged and torn
yes I can say
why was I born?
nobody loved me
nobody cried
as to my ownership
they all denied

I felt their boot
up my arse and I ran
over the free way
and, another man
lobbed a stone at me
it really hurt
for a moment I laid down
asleep in the dirt

the shock of it all
took my breath away
and the skin on my back
in the thrust I did pay
dragged along by
some creep with a car
tearing my flesh
oh it did scar

my soul and my spirit
the pain was intense
nobody helped me
there just seemed no sense
of taking this agony
but well I did
trying just trying
just hoping to bid

for the respite and joy
to be laid quietly still
on the grass in the cool
as my blood it did spill
I watched it
I licked it
it tasted warm
but inside my head
was a hell of a storm

my eyes bled
I wee’d
the shock was too much
I just couldn’t bear it
if some one would touch
my breathing was laboured
my heart it beat slow
I’d lost all my spark
and i thought I would go

but some angels found me
and helped me and I
was given some water
I didn’t die
I was laid in a bed
and treated so well
closing my eyes
it wasn’t hell

I was back on my feet
in a white room and I
was being looked after
by a lass and a guy
cleaning me cutting my hair
I just feel
these humans are angels
real angels reveal

such love and they did
they were so good to me
compared to that bastard
who tried to kill me
how can two people be as different as this
how one can be lovely
and pat me and kiss
and the other just kick me
and tied me and dragged
until my whole body
officially sagged

I’m Walt and the pain
has been terribly bad
the night s have been long
and I have felt so sad
as the maggots did chew
and the blood it did spill
gradually slowly I got back will
some of you darlings have sent in some
cash
its helping its helping
that really big gash is healing so well now
the food too is great
and lovely fresh water
off my nice clean plate

I need a bit more help
so think of me
just a little bit more help
and I will be free
of this egregious pain
it does me in
a little more help
and I’m going to win
