Winter and the violence starts
the ice and snow that’s breaks some hearts
great tidal waves of thrusting snow
follow the winds where ere they go
Male Polar Bears are forced to be
plodding around on the frozen sea
this terrible weather takes its toll
its will cut and freeze just any soul
the female she will find somewhere
and build a soft snow nest and share
hopeful that the winds will bring
more snow and she can be trusting
dig down deep and have her young
and truthfully remain among
great single specks of black now rise
upwards straight into the skies
millions of Eiders they must go
or freeze up if they stay below
some may try it the gamble will
not pay off for the ice will spill
downwards as it always does
and those who didn’t won’t fill the buzz
they will be frozen where they lay
hemmed in by the encroaching play
the icy hand that will crush them flat
like a very thick and engaging mat
above us really very high
100 miles up in the sky
the solar winds the magnetic poles
dancing lights and colourful souls
the northern lights ripple and sway
providing the light this winters day
