When we wake up in the morning
and the sky is that rich blue
when birds are singing up above
and insects buzzing too
when trees are clothed in myriad leaves
when buds are bursting out
when plants are struggling to see us
that’s what life’s about
a robin with its red breast
and inquisitive little heart
sits upon a fence and watches
and he just might dart
out to catch a wiggly
or a spot of corn maybe
and the rabbit in the hollows
down by the aspen tree
there is a richness about nature
an abundance always there
provided that we honour her
and prove we are aware
that’s if we now share everything
for everything has its place
from the butterfly
to the predators
and the scampering ones
who chase
we must consider nature
for she considers us
she is our goddess mother
and, likes to discuss
through the seasons she produces
life and death and life
the perfect natural order
with all the natural strife
the bursting forth of green shoots
the butterflies that play
the flowers,and their myriad petals
that pose a great display
the scents that captivate us
attracting Wasp and Bee
and the fruits that bring our harvest
and deliver it for free
this is life in all its splendour
often just outside our door
the grass is full of creatures
some we’ve never seen before
but all have a place despite that
whether predator or prey
each has a lifespan on this earth
that we shouldn’t take away
we must enjoy the splendour
we must create the worth
wander through the forest
and marvel at the earth
for its constant revival
the changes that are made
accept it and enjoy it
for in our arms its laid
but if we attract assassins
who come to slaughter we
will see such vile destruction
and witness much that will be
truly out of kilter as balance
takes a hit
and all the friendly souls we knew
somehow do not fit
they are not there or too many
of one sort are about
we have broken the magic bond
and now witness a rout
man may be intelligent but
that’s only to a degree
he cannot create a blade of grass
from nothing as we can see
he can modify and cripple
he can genetically control
well sorry he can bugger up the system
and extol
some semblance of creation
but at the highest cost
we are seeing this with Monsanto
where so much has been lost
when we get up in the morning
and we throw open the door
and we hear the birds a singing
like they never have before
its because we are developing our senses
and we know
we feed into emotions
we share that wondrous glow
like Karen she’s an angel
she’s my lovely friend and I
love her really dearly
like the wind and like the sky
she is a saintly wonder
with her fairies at her side
and her animals about her
that look after her with pride
and claudia another soul
a soul that I love so
who teaches me so many things
that I wanted to know
she tempers me and heals me
and softens me and she
is perfect really perfect
and with her sometimes I be
and Yvonne and the rest of you
who come to share my space
Angel,there are many
from all over the place
this an ode for nature
and for the earthlings that abound
those that come to see us
and those that are seldom found
all of them are part of the
planet we call earth
and we must thank our lucky stars
and appreciate its worth
